e are “Alcalis de la Patagonia”. We are known as ALPAT, the only producer of sodium carbonate in South America. We are a company that supports our national industry and the generation of value in its activities, while being strongly committed to excellence in quality and customer service, with profound respect for the community, safety and the environment.

Our industrial plant, located in San Antonio Oeste, Province of Rio Negro, has been operational since 2005. Today it has 500 employees on its payroll and it is estimated that indirectly with the transportation

of raw materials, permanent services: canteen, surveillance, machinery, personal transportation, etc., it has an impact on some other 100 indirect jobs. ALPAT is vertically integrated, since it directly exploits its 2 raw materials: SALT AND LIMESTONE.

The “La Calera” and “Paileman” limestone quarries are 80 km away from the plant and generate permanent employment for 40 residents in Valcheta, a town with 7,000 inhabitants. The limestone extracted is transported via freight train (Patagonian Train).

The salt is extracted from our properties at the “Bajo El Gualicho” salt flat, located 48 km from the plant and employs 20 additional people temporarily during the harvesting season in addition to its permanent staff. The harvested salt is transported by truck.

The plant, being isolated from the SADI (Argentine Interconnection System), does not have mains electricity supply.  Therefore, it provides itself with the energy required for the production process, service areas and plant lighting. For this purpose, it has two boilers (steam production) and a turbine.

ALPAT supplies sodium carbonate to multiple companies in various industries (glass, soap powder, silicates, other chemicals, water treatment, lithium carbonate), making ALPAT a strategic partner for its customers due to its high quality and efficient management.

ALPAT succeeded in consolidating its operation, which was always envisioned and projected during the construction of the Plant, therefore having Punta Delgado and San Antonio Oeste identified as the

base of a regional development (together with Aguada Cecilio, Valcheta, Paileman, Salina El Gualicho, Las Grutas and Puerto de San Antonio Este) and as a generator of employment, as well as an engine for the social-economic development of the area.

This makes ALPAT a strategic economic and social agent for the area of San Antonio Oeste and its area of influence (Las Grutas, Puerto de San Antonio Este, etc.).
